Peer Counseling

  • Assist in identifying action steps to resolve issues in which they have been discriminated against

Social Security Advocacy

SPOKES Unlimited will provide advocacy services to consumers, to apply and prepare for the process of the SSI/SSDI application, and appeals if needed. SPOKES Unlimited will charge the consumer 20% or maximum of $6,000.00 of the past due benefits. It will be the consumer’s responsibility to pay SPOKES Unlimited the fee.

How to use assistive devices

Any skills, to help a person with a disability to be independent; independence for each person is different.

Transition Services

  • Assist young people with school-to-work transitioning, working with the schools and vocational programs
  • Assist people wanting to move from parent homes, group homes, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, etc. to live in the community
  • Providing assistance to individuals with significant disabilities who are at risk of entering institutions, so that the individual may remain in the community
  • Provide assistance to persons transitioning from correctional facilities into the community

Low Vision Assessment

SPOKES can help you choose a magnifier, mark appliances, learn to cook without sight, learn transportation options, learn your rights as a person with a visual impairment, learn to write and sign your own checks, and apply for free operator assistance and communication equipment through the Oregon TDAP program.

 

Work Incentive Network (WIN)

WIN is a free benefit and work incentives planning service provided to people with disabilities who want to work.

Community Education and Outreach

Disability training for all ages designed to increase public understanding about the needs and issues related to people with disabilities.

Support Groups

SPOKES Unlimited staff will be a support person for the Peer Support Groups. The support groups are peer-lead and will run their groups with the help from SPOKES staff members.

 

Healing Pathways

This is a peer-lead group for women, with disabilities, who experience depression. It is a 14 week class, 1 day a week for 2.5 hours. There are activities and homework with the goal of lessening symptoms and severity of depressive symptoms.

We should be starting our 2018 Fall session in November.
